The Very Definition Of Stupid

There are no words.

Is there any valid reason this woman should be allowed to vote, much less hold any sort of public office?
Appalling. Seriously. I can't imagine how she even gets herself dressed.

Summertime Angst

When the kids are out of school there's less time for keeping up with politics and news. However, there's nothing more important than staying in tune with the world around us. It just has to happen quickly - in between running back and forth to the fridge for juice boxes and popsicles.

Just a few things that have happened this week:

Looks like our government and BP have been putting our beaches at risk for years now. I guess since the government folks haven't been enforcing the rules and BP hasn't been following them, we can assign equal blame to all of them. And lets spread it to ALL of them. All the way back to Clinton, evidently. Plenty of ignoring the rules to go around. And before you decide to let the current administration totally off the hook, remember they've been there 18 months running the same scam. Giving out safety awards to BP. Um, yeah.

We're less safe EVERY FREAKING DAY.Won't matter how much oil leaks into our oceans if we just sit by like a bunch of pussies talking about how much we want everyone to like us and how we'll get rid of OUR nuclear weapons and then you'll get rid of yours, right? Only NO. Crazy people see that as a great opportunity to take advantage of idiots. Which seems to describe our current foreign policies with WACKOS. Won't you like us if we're nice to you and pretend you're not NUTS? Um . . . no they won't.

And the Democrats in South Carolina got exactly what they voted for. What a riot. Good thing they didn't overturn their OWN election results. Can you imagine the power they'd feel come November if they could make the argument their voters were too stupid to know who they voted for? No election would ever be safe. Not that they are now. Voter fraud is pretty much a given at this point. I'm pretty sure once the country is completely ignoring the fact that Black Panthers are threatening voters with clubs, it's all downhill from here.

Just a little news perusal fun for your summer enjoyment. We're still going to hell in a hand basket. But at least while it's happening the kids are home and I'm sitting at the beach getting a tan. For now, I'm expecting the oil to join me soon and I'm guessing it won't be so fun after that.

Things Are Heating Up - And I Don't Mean The Weather

Although it is REALLY hot down here on the beaches of sunny Florida. Hell hot.

But I'm actually referring to our southern border. If it wasn't enough that the Mexican president came down here and insulted us in our own Congress, now he and his fellow Mexican agitators are pushing out the sob stories of illegals fleeing Arizona. Those poor law breakers aren't going to be able to stay there.

Whatever shall we do??

Before you accuse me of being a racist, anti-Hispanic freak, let me explain to you that my spouse is Hispanic. Don't throw that card on me. And guess what? He was born here, but his family wasn't. So guess what else? His family came here LEGALLY. His grandfather said one of the proudest moments of his life was the day he became a U. S. citizen.

You noticed I said my husband's family came here LEGALLY, right?

You'll pardon me if I don't accept the "You are a racist" rhetoric. Tell that to my husband. He'll be surprised to know the woman he's having great sex with hates him for his heritage.

Meanwhile it sounds to me as if the Arizona law is doing exactly what it is supposed to. Causing illegals to flee.

But our friendly Mexican neighbors won't rest until the border is a war zone. They pulled their weapons on American investigators today. The FBI agents were there investigating the death of a Mexican teenager killed by a border patrol agent. Mexican police insist the agent crossed into Mexico and shot the boy. And while I grieve with the family of this young man, I will not jump to the conclusion that the American border patrol agents were in the wrong unless it is proven. Here in America we have that whole innocent-until-proven-guilty thing going for us. I know it is very inconvenient for those jumping to the conclusion that those nasty border officers are just running around shooting innocent children. Which is exactly what the Mexican tabloids did today - complete with photos and headlines saying "Things Americans Do." Yeah, you know us Americans, sending foreign aid ALL OVER the WORLD and going into debt spending money we don't have so we can SHOOT people for fun. That's just how we are.

Of course, there's a video. According to the border patrol, their video proves the Mexican police version is not true and that the border patrol agents were under attack and on American soil. I'm sure we're all shocked to think that the pure, altruistic Mexican police - known for their integrity - could possibly lie.

Darn all these people with video cameras recording everything. It's making it harder and harder for the criminal element to get away with their lies after the fact. First those pesky Israelis had proof of their version of the flotilla incident, now those stinking border patrol agents are videoing their interactions with the lawbreakers invading our country.

It's getting harder and harder to get away with crime these days.

A Day Late And A Letter Short

On a blog focused on teen girls, a mom recently wrote an open letter to the parents of Miley Cyrus. The only way you don't know about Miley/Hannah Montana is if you are not the parent of a girl under the age of 13 or if you live under a rock completely cut off from any sort of civilization, which means you're not reading anything on the web - including this blogpost.

We've all heard of Miley. And she recently made a sexed up, poorly executed, somewhat B video that has moms up in arms. Sweet little Hannah portrayed as a sex kitten - er, caged up as some sort of rare creature - is quite disconcerting. Great moment for moms trying to teach their little ones they don't have to be sexed up to get attention.

But I digress. What I really mean to say is that while I understand the frustration of the woman writing the open letter to Miley's parents - didn't we all want to pull them to the side and say, "Why in the heck do you want your daughter to do such crappy work?" - the real point is that it is too late to be giving advice to Billy Ray and Tish.

Miley will be 18 this year. At that point, a parent has done the parenting. You can't give your child your morals when they are 18. They should have been instilled already and by that time you're standing back, watching your child, hoping that what you've taught them has made a difference in who they are. You cannot force them to be what you want them to be. They are who they are.

Parenting teenagers happens when they are toddlers - actually, psychologists say their personalities are formed by age FIVE. Parenting teenagers starts the very first time your child smarts off to you. The very first time they make a bad choice. The very first time they want their way over your way. Parenting teenagers cannot wait until you have teenagers.

The hard work starts when they come out and by the time you've reached 18 if you're still trying to force them to mimic your morality . . . you're screwed. And this doesn't necessarily mean you've done a piss-poor job of parenting. Maybe you've done all you could and your child is an individual and for some reason - their personality and experiences - they've turned into someone very different than you hoped they would be.

Or maybe you've done a piss-poor job of parenting and it's just a little late to mold them into something different than you've already created. If you're first trying to instill morals into your child when they're developing tits and zits then YOU ARE TOO LATE. And odds are, by this point they're not seeing those same morals lived out in your own life so you're adding hypocrisy into the mix. If you haven't been living the very morals you're trying to teach then give up. It won't work. Why try anyway? Why are you trying to convince them to live morals you haven't been living their whole lives?

Maybe Billy Ray and Tish have done a good job of parenting and Miley has just grown up to be an attention-craving, money hungry, unprincipled little sex tramp. In that case, piling on their heartache with an open letter is just adding pain to an already miserable set of parents.

Or maybe this is exactly who they've groomed Miley to be. In that case, they really don't care whether we agree with the moral choices their child is making. Maybe they just used their child as another form of income and whatever she does that keeps her in the spotlight keeps their bottom-line in the black.

All I know is the 10 year old and the 18 year old that live in my house find Miley's new video pitiful, disgusting, laughable and pathetic.

So my parenting seems to be right on track.

Presidential Class

I just want us to all imagine for five seconds what the press would be saying if Cowboy Bush had uttered the "kick ass" phrase with regards to ANYthing.

Between Biden's insisting that healthcare legislation was a big f***ing deal, Obama insisting that somebody plug the damn hole, and his desire to kick someone's ass, I'm kinda starting to miss the days when presidents pretended to be above the "average" man. When they hid the fact that they used words like that because they wanted it to appear to the rest of the world that the leader of the U.S. had class.

and his celebrity soirees . . .

I'm wondering if we're watching a frat party or an administration concerned with running a country.

I'm not opposed to the staffers taking some time off to relax, of course, I'm just saying remember when we had presidents that cared about appearances? Remember when the press expected the president to show how much he cared that the country was going through devastating times?

I'm beginning to think we've really just elected a celebrity in chief. And the press have forgotten the standards they held up just a couple of short years ago.

That's okay. I'm sure they'll remember them next time a Republican's in office.

Crist Is All About The Change, Isn't He?

I suppose he's given himself permission to bail on his supposed pro-life confessions as well.

First, "I will not run as an independent." Yeah, right. Shoulda said, "I will not run as an independent unless I find out for sure that the voters don't want me. Then I will surely screw the party by changing my mind, even though right now I'm telling you I certainly will not be running as an independent."

Now he's evidently planning on vetoing the supposedly controversial pro-life bill. Wouldn't want to hack off any of those new possible Democratic voters, now would we? Pro-life, shmo-life.

And here's why the bill is so "controversial": it requires a woman actually make an informed decision on whether or not she wants to abort her child. She must get an ultra sound. The catch is they're saying she'll have to pay for it, but anyone who knows anything about a Crisis Pregnancy Center knows that a large portion of them give women free ultra sounds of their child. So that they will know that it's, ya know, a child.

So then why are the pro-choice activists so worried about a woman being able to actually make an INFORMED choice?????? If they are so confident that women want to be in control of their decisions, and are also confident that a woman should have a choice to abort their child, then why are they so concerned that a woman should have all the information necessary to make the most informed decision possible?

It's Time To Speak Out

When George Bush and the Republicans were spending our money as if there was an endless supply of it, I thought, "Well, he did run on the whole compassionate conservative thing." I thought the whole idea was stupid, but the economy was good and I figured we could survive it.

When the Democrats took over the House and Senate I thought, "Eh, politicians. They're all basically the same anyway. How different can it be?" And I figured we could survive it.

When Obama won the election and people were talking about how radical he was I really thought the majority of the stuff was rhetoric and exaggerations. I figured why not give him the benefit of the doubt? It was, after all, an historic election - the turning of a dark page in America's story. I assumed we could survive it, maybe even thrive in the midst of it.

But when the Democrats stood up and applauded the president of Mexico for trashing our country, damn it, I finally woke up to the fact that our country is in deep crap. Officially.

Are you freaking kidding me? They feel completely comfortable giving a standing ovation to a man ripping OUR immigration policy? Our laws? First off, the hypocrisy from Calderon is astounding. His country is repeatedly cited for human rights violations for their treatment of Central American illegal immigrants. Um, not to mention, in Mexico foreigners must have their papers AT ALL TIMES so they can show them to officials when asked. And all this insidious drivel coming from the president of a country notorious for corruption, missing people, bribery, kidnapping, drug running . . . you get the idea.

As a mother and a proud American I can say that was the final straw for me. I hope to see ads of the traitors that stood in the great halls of Congress applauding that hypocrite - and run them over and over and over again. None of them deserve re-election. And every single one of them owes us an apology. We elect these people to represent us. To uphold OUR constitution. We expect them to be on our side, damn it.

What will be left of our country if things continue the way they're going now? What will be left for our children? I've never felt our rights were so threatened as they are now. It doesn't seem like hype anymore. Our constitution is in jeopardy. Truly, our leaders do not feel loyalty to their constituents any longer - we saw that in the passing of the hellacious health care monstrosity.

So, I'm starting a forum for moms - and dads, of course - to explore topics important to the future of our country. I am not a professional and I'm not an expert on history, so I will be investigating things in open - for myself. I hope to create a blog where my kids can find truth on topics that matter to our country. I want to take on subjects from all points of view, wade through all the lies and find some speck of truth. Somewhere. Surely that's possible?

Do I start with a bias? Of course. We all do. And to tell the truth, I generally lean to the right on issues. However, the time for one-sidedness is well past. There's plenty of crap being flung around on both sides of the political spectrum, so I want to wade through all the dung and come out on the other side with answers for my kids.

I will learn as I go. And we'll pray there's something left of America for our children when we come out on the other side.
